Seeds and Worms

Updated: Jul 4

One day I saw something that resonated with my soul. I was delivering a DoorDash order and I pulled up at this house that had water flowing down the driveway. I was in a season of transition and the Lord was teaching me how to serve with clean hands. It was an adjustment! I was used to serving, but in this capacity. This season was teaching me to trust God in a way like never before. It was highly uncomfortable, full of tests and extremely strenuous. God was challenging me in my finances, in accountability, in dealing with my pride and ego, with my obedience and with listening to his every instruction.

That day, the homeowners were intending to water the seeds that had been planted. What caught my attention was the fact that there were worms everywhere. I had been staying at an Airbnb on the lake in Belmont, North Carolina. The Lord had shifted me from my hometown in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Charlotte, North Carolina. I had quit my job the year prior according to the unction from the Holy Spirit and I was struggling to trust God with this destiny of mine. I knew what God had said concerning me, I just didn't agree with it.

I'm a big fisherman, and the Lord was testing me in my obedience concerning my finances. So, I had asked God to provide me with bait so that I could fully enjoy this house on the lake that He had provided me with, and here it is! Running down this driveway with those seeds was the very bait I needed and they're EVERYWHERE!!!

This part of this message is important because earlier that day when I left the house, I had opted out of bringing the empty water bottle I had in my purse. The night before, I instinctively placed it in my purse. I even questioned myself as to WHY I was doing this. I took it out, right as I was leaving that place. So here I am and I'm having this moment with God where I'm asking Him why do you do this to me?

Well, what did God do besides answer my prayer? I asked for bait and here was bait. It's not on God that I was unprepared to receive what He had given me. He presented an opportunity that only He could do and I was not prepared. Sometimes we ask for things that we are not prepared to receive. God will provide, but it's up to us to be in the right place at the right time holding the correct cup to receive. Let's go deeper!

Not only do we have to have the cup, but it has to have room to receive. What good is having the cup, being in the correct place, at the right time and you can't hold or contain the VERY THING that God has provided. Be prepared. Now back to the seeds. Sometimes we find ourselves attempting to help God with the assignment He gave us. God does not need our help. He needs our obedience. Had the homeowners not overwatered their seed, the harvest would have been plentiful. They can expect a great harvest but the reality is that it will fall short. They, in trying to help, washed away the seed they had planted.

As I exited my car, 2 things were out of place. The worms and the seeds. Believers, my prayer is that we monitor our garden AND our gardening techniques. Some tools that we used in the past to "move" God will not work. Please, please, please, pay attention to the season you are in and go to God with the instructions on how He wants you to handle the season and place that you find yourself in. There is a time to sow, there is a time to reap, there is a time for Harvest and there is a time to wait, a time to listen and a time to speak. (Ecclesiastes 3:18) A TIME. Ask God how He wants you to handle the tools in your hands. Go forth, in The Peace of The Lord. Shalom.

It’s up to us to be at the right place at the right time, holding the correct cup to receive 🙌🏾… very impactful read!
